CPI, PPI rising, but inflation risk remains smallPublished: 22 Oct 2009 12:02:02 PST<p class="authorInfor"]</p]
By Li Qiaoyi </p]
There is no risk of inflation given that the readings of the consumer price index (CPI) and the producer price index (PPI) have yet to post positive growth, Li Xiaochao, spokesman for the National Bureau of Statistics, said on Thursday.</p]
Li told a press conference held in Beijing for the release of third quarter statistics that there are inflationary expectations which need to be given attention, as both the CPI and the PPI have been growing on a monthly basis.</p]
The CPI declined 0.8 percent from a year earlier in September. It was up 0.4 percent from August, however, marking the second consecutive month that the index rose from the previous month after the descent ended in July.</p]
PPI was down 7.0 percent year-on-year in September, but continued a half-year-long monthly increase, up 0.6 percent from August.</p]
Lian Ping, chief economist at the Bank of Communications (BCM), agreed that there's no imminent inflation risk, while noting that the probable upswing in consumer prices next year would lead to rising concerns over inflation.</p]
Price increase of resources, like the controversial water fee adjustment, has further triggered price hikes, Lian said.</p]
Fears of imported inflation are also likely to grow, as prices for bulk commodities like oil are on the rise, he added.</p]
Inflation is poised to turn positive in the current quarter and to continue rising next year, Ken Peng, economist with Citigroup, predicted in a report released on Thursday.</p]
The CPI should have "mildly positive growth" in the fourth quarter to reach about 0.6 percent growth year-on-year, and the PPI's annual decline should contract, Zhu Jianfang, chief macroeconomic economist at CITIC Securities, estimated in a report published on Thursday.</p]
The CPI will post positive year-on-year growth in November and the PPI will turn positive early next year, Lian said.</p]
The economists' prediction of rising inflationary expectations came just one day after the State Council, or the cabinet, said that balancing the relationship between maintaining stable economic growth, adjusting the economic structure, and managing inflation would become a major focus of macroeconomic policy in the coming months.</p]
The State Council added 'rebalancing the economy' to its policy focus, sandwiched between a focus on growth and inflation, Nomura Securities' Sun Mingchun said in a report released on Thursday.</p]
The cabinet mentioned "inflationary expectations" in its official announcement for the first time, saying the ongoing active fiscal and moderately loose monetary policy would be continued in an effort to assure the stability of the economy.</p]
However, some economists disagree with the government's prediction. Qin Xiao, chairman of China Merchants Bank, China's sixth largest bank by net assets, raised concerns over rapid growing asset bubbles due to the expansion of liquidity in an article he wrote in the Financial Times Wednesday.</p]
"Monetary policy must not neglect asset-price movements. So it is urgent that China shifts from a loose monetary policy to a neutral one," Qin said.</p]
Qin's viewpoints were shared by Citigroup's Peng and BCM's Lian.</p]
We have long held that policy stance would turn neutral before the end of the year, Peng said in the report.</p]
"While it's okay to maintain the proactive fiscal policy and moderately loose monetary policy for a short time, it's wise for the government to shift to a more neutral stance in the long term to assure the sustainable growth of the economy," Lian said.</p]<p align=center] Explore the World, Understand China!

Extra Special DeliveryPublished: 30 Nov 2009 08:02:01 PST<p class="authorInfor"]</p]
<br /]Young customers visit Panda Slow Delivery's first store located in Beijing's 798 Art District. Photo: Chen Yang</p]
By Chen Yang </p]
Li Baochen was intent on getting a letter to his fiancee delivered on time, the only problem was that he wanted it to arrive in 2046.</p]
"By then I'll have a family and I want to see how much I've changed," Li told Beijing TV.</p]
In a world of email, cell phones, and air-shipped next-day delivery, where do you go when you want a letter to inch along to its destination rather than get there lightning-fast?</p]
Tucked away in a quaint corner of Beijing's bustling 798 Art District, lies a very special delivery service, which can do just that.</p]
Panda Slow Delivery </p]
Founded by six like-minded friends, Panda Slow Delivery opened this March, inspired by a delayed postcard.</p]
Li Yina, one of the founders, used to work as a consultant in Beijing, but when she sent a postcard while she was on vacation, a lightbulb went off in her head.</p]
"It took more than a month for the postcard to arrive," she said. "When it finally made it, it brought back good memories from my trip. I realized other people might want to have that experience too."</p]
At Panda Delivery, customers can buy original postcards or bring their own and choose the day they want it to be delivered. The store keeps their mail and sends them by China Post or express delivery on the specific date.</p]
An original postcard is sold between 5 yuan ($0.70) and 30 yuan ($4.40). In addition to normal postage, Panda Delivery charges for keeping and forwarding the mail for delivery. It costs 10 yuan ($1.50) for each letter to be delivered later this year, and another 5 yuan per year beginning from 2010.</p]
Zhao Yue, co-owner and creative director of Panda Delivery, said they have sent more than 10,000 letters and postcards, and have kept several thousand letters for slow delivery up to 2059 in their company storage space.</p]
"Most of the slow deliveries will be posted within the next three years, and we have established a customer database to update their addresses," she said.</p]
Currently Panda's service is limited to letters and postcards. "We also received some requests from customers asking delivering expensive gifts, but we didn't accept them due to high storage risks," she added.</p]
Panda Delivery's business has developed fast. It opened branches in Beijing APM, a shopping mall in glitzy Wangfujing and Oriental Ginza, an upscale mall near the Central Business District, in October.</p]
Zhao said several Chinese venture capital companies have become interested in their business and expressed an intention to invest, and they plan to open more branches around the country as well as develop telephone and online business.</p]
"We are also exploring other lines of business, such as cooperating with wedding planning companies, schools and universities," she said. "Couples can write a letter to each other on their wedding day, parents can write a letter to their children on their birthday, and students can write a letter to their teacher at their graduation ceremony."</p]
Slow delivery goes online </p]
Following Panda Delivery's lead, more and more slow delivery stores have emerged in the virtual world.</p]
"The success of Panda Delivery inspired us to open an online slow delivery store on taobao. com, China's largest Internet retail website," said Gao Xiang, the owner of Times Slow Delivery.</p]
Gao's store opened on November 10, and has sold around 10 postcards so far. An original post card is sold at 10 yuan, and keeping and forwarding postcards is free.</p]
"Unlike Panda Delivery, we mainly provide short-term slow delivery services, no电磁流量计 capsule filling machine 搅拌器 系统下载 工作流 クレジット 現金化 ビジネスローン

Dec. 5, 2008 (China Knowledge) - China Huadian Corp, parent of Shanghai and Hong Kong dual-listed Huadian Power International<600027><1071>, Friday announced it would invest more than RMB 40 billion to build an energy complex in Hulunbeier, northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, according to sources.</p]
It was reported that the complex includes a coal exploration component, a large-scale coal-fired power plant and a coal-to-chemical project. However, the company didn't provide any timetable for construction and operations.</p]
Upon completion, the complex is expected to have an annual output value of RMB 20 billion, with profit and tax of RMB 3 billion to RMB 4 billion, Huadian Corp said.</p]
In a bid to lower the dependence on the coal producers, Huadian Corp has formed a unit earlier focusing on the development on its coal sector in China's northwest provinces, including Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Xinjiang and Shanxi.</p]
In March, Huadian Corp said it planned to invest RMB 36.7 billion in Shaanxi for four energy projects.</p]<br /]Copyright © 2008 www.chinaknowledge.com<br /]<br /]Send feedback or comments to: news@chinaknowledge.com<br /]<br /]For more news, financial weekly reports, business guides to China and other premium information, subscribe to China Knowledge today: <br /]<br /]To access our page on Bloomberg, type CKFI <go]<!--end CK content--]</go]<!-- right Begin --]Related TopicsChina News<br /]<map name="Map" id="Map"]</map]<!-- right end--]混合机 miniature bearings 通风柜 乳化机 クレジットカード 現金化 口コミ tera rmt 合法ハーブ
